The Data & Analytics (D&A) organization has just started its journey to combine leading-edge cloud technology based on Snowflake and Microsoft Azure with state-of-the-art advanced analytics and artificial intelligence (AI) to enable scalable data-driven decision-making across the educational value chain. The role

As a Senior Data Warehouse Engineer at Infinitas Learning, you will be part of an agile and highly technical but business-focused team with the mission to build a single source of truth and to make data actionable. Given the early stage of the journey, you will have a great opportunity to shape the landscape. In your role, you will use your extensive data modeling expertise and mastery of SQL to leverage our modern data platform and transformation technologies.

What you will do

• Determine optimal design for analytical use-cases, to be built in the Snowflake data warehouse and data marts, in close cooperation with Data Analysts and Business Analysts for fast and accurate data analysis.
• Ensure accurate data modeling according to Data Vault principles and star schema design according to best practice e.g., making use of conformed dimensions, etc.
• Design and build high-performance, resilient, efficient data pipelines feeding the target tables using Fivetran and dbt as the Extract Load Transform (ELT) stack. Participate in data architecture and ELT design discussions.
• Design and build optimal Data Orchestration flows for centralized control of end-to-end data processes using Prefect.
• Strive for high data quality management and rapid output using data warehousing best practices, test automation, and collaborative sessions (code reviews, whiteboarding, etc.).
• Employ effective deployment strategies that minimize downtime with a focus on continuous delivery. Work in a progressive environment and perform effectively in an agile development environment.
• Provide training and mentorship in a way to bring others along in our data warehouse modernization journey. Communicate, document, and present technical architecture to peers and different stakeholders throughout the organization.
• Constantly stay up to date on new technologies in the data warehouse space and where they may fit our initiatives.

What experience you must have to qualify as a candidate

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, informatics, or relevant field from an accredited college or university; Master’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
• 8 years of experience in data warehouse engineering, end-to-end development life cycle, maintenance and support, and Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
• 2 years of hands-on data warehouse engineering experience with a cloud data platform e.g., Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform. Demonstrate understanding and use of elasticity and scalability for analytical platforms.
• Knowledge of Snowflake architecture and functionality is preferred, specifically how Virtual Warehouse optimizes the need for compute to scale up / down.
• Led, designed, developed, tested, and supported ELT/ETL pipelines using technologies such as Informatica, Matillion, Microsoft SSIS, Talend, Fivetran, and dbt, with a preference for the last two. Experienced with ELT (data transformation in the data warehouse).
• Proven experience in modeling multiple data warehouse solutions using Data Vault, Anchor Modeling, or any similar agile database modeling technique suited for information that changes over time both in structure and content.
• Master data vault methodology by understanding e.g., what to consider when loading tables, how keys are being generated, and in what order objects are created, is preferred.
• Demonstrate understanding of Enterprise Data Warehouse, Data Marts, Big Data, Business Intelligence, Advanced Analytics, Data Lineage, Data Management, and Data Quality.
• Excellent English written and oral communication skills.
• Fluent in Dutch or Swedish is preferred.
• Working permit within the European Union.
