Data Engineer | Vegetable-breeding organization

Organization:

This organisation develops new vegetables all over the world. It is very likely that you’ll find their products (cucumbers, sweet peppers, tomatoes) on your plate. They produce and sell the seeds of the vegetables all over the world. The last couple of years this organisation has become more innovative. They invest more than 30% of their turnover in research to broaden and develop their knowledge, which will pay off in a constant flow of innovations. Therefore, this organization becomes more data driven.

Team:

The team you will work with consists of Data Engineers, Platform Engineers and PowerBI specialists. Together you work closely with the Data Architects and Data Sourcers to get insights. You will report to the Global Manager Data & Insights. Within this organization there is a flat structure, so you can learn from each and every person.

Role:

As a Data Engineer, you will be responsible for the development and operations of their global data platform. This platform offers storage and consumption of valuable business and research data. Together with your team you will manage critical data pipelines that serve interactive reports and advanced applications for users all across the world to make their business more successful using your data!

You offer:

  • Have a minimum of 3 years of relevant working experience as a Data Engineer. You have hands-on experience with loading data into a data platform, scale data transformations and deliver data towards end users. Your data pipelines supply for example data to interactive dashboards or advanced analytics applications;
  • Experience with building data systems;
  • Knowledge of distributed data processing systems (Spark) and quickly understand the data processing tools;
  • You could easily communicate with the Product Owner and several other stakeholders;
  • Are familiar with Python and the Azure data stack. You have applied Azure Data Factory, Databricks and other Azure services in a professional environment. You know how to combine these tools to establish an end-to-end data flow;
  • Are open to brainstorm with your team and IT stakeholders on what the ideal designs are, whilst taking into account company standards and policies on for example security;
  • Are currently living in the Netherlands. Working from home is possible!
